March 2013 Favourites!

Hey guys! I thought it would be a great idea to start posting some favourites posts at the end of each month to keep all of you updated with my preferred beauty products!

MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara
So back at the beginning of the month, Rachel took me out for a belated birthday celebration. One of the things that we did was go to MAC and get makeovers. The only other time I ever had my makeup done was when I was four and was about to be a flowergirl in a wedding. While at MAC, I learned a some new and helpful tips, and at the end of the makeover I received a free mascara! They gave me the mascara they had used in the makeover, which was the False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara. I have been using this mascara everyday ever since I got it! It has become one of my holy grails!

MAC Lipstick in Coral Bliss
I fell in love with this lipstick when the makeup artist put it on my lips! When you swatch it on your hand it looks like it would be an extremely shimmery lipstick but when you apply it to your lips, it comes off more as a sheer colour that is fairly pigmented. It helps make my eyes POP when I do a brown/bronze smokey eye look. Everyday  I pair this lipstick with my next beauty favourite....

Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake
These new lipsticks from Revlon have been raved about by pretty much every beauty blogger I've seen, so of course I had to go out and buy one for myself! These lipsticks offer the moisturization of a lip balm while adding a burst of colour to your lips! When I mix it with my MAC lipstick, I get this really nice pinky coraly beigey colour that is stunning!

Bath & Body Works Shower gel in Secret Wonderland Jardin
My final favourite of the month is an amazing shower gel from none other than Bath & Body Works (every beauty blogger's favourite soap and candle store). The picture down below is of my second bottle this month...that's how much I love it! It has this sweet smell that makes me feel like I'm drifting away into some exotic land. Mmmmm

Hope you guys have an amazing easter with your families!

Spring 2013 Must Haves!

Ok ok, I know I'm a few days late. But hey, better late than never, right? These are some things that you'll want to have this Spring!

Pastels
No, not the art supples. The colours! Pastel colours are lighter shades that really give off a fun and energetic vibe. Spring is all about the snow melting, the animals coming out of hibernation, the temperature warming up, so what better way to celebrate all of those things than with bright and cheerful colours?!

My favourite pastel colours are definitely yellow and teal!

Floral
Spring also means the blooming of many flowers, so why not add some floral prints to your wardrobe?! I think having one or two (or ten) floral dresses in your closet is perfect for those warmer spring days! To know how to style floral print pants, click HERE. If you aren't into wearing floral clothing, try picking out a pair of flats! They go great with skinny jeans and a loose shirt and are the best shoes for the spring (besides your rubber boots).

Makeup
Winter was all about red lipstick, but now it's time to bring out your pinks, peaches, and corals. Since spring is a cheery season you really want to wear makeup that POPS! I have a feeling hot pinks will be trending pretty soon. Check out my new favourite lipsticks from Revlon's Lip Butters line! You will read a little more about them at the end of the month when I publish my first 'Favourites of the Month' post!

This just about ends my Spring 2013 Must Haves! Oh and don't forget to keep a light and waterproof jacket on hand for those rainy days!

xx Mandy

NOTW- March 19, 2013

Hello readers! I've been doing my best with posting new things, and I know I haven't been doing it as much as I've been wanting to, but don't worry because I will never stop!:)

This week's nails are in celebration of Spring's arrival tomorrow!
Linen (left), Sea (right)
I used my favourite line from Sally Hansen, the Smooth and Perfect polishes. These are my absolute favourite pastel nail polishes to wear. They are the only two that I own from the line, but I can tell you right now, I will be buying all of the shades at some point. I applied two coats to get a more opaque look. I think one thing that I looooove about these polishes is the bottles- look at how cute and square they are! My advice to you guys: go out and spend all of your money on these nail polishes!

Avon Reviews #2

A couple days after my first package from Avon arrived, I received my SECOND one. This time there were more products to review.....

Flor Violeta...a sweet surprise of vibrant violet blossoms, sparkling apple and dreamy musk

I cannot express my love of things that smell amazing. I will not leave the house without at least one sprit of some sort of perfume and/or wearing a scented handcream. I personally think it makes a great impression on people when you enter a room smelling all sweet and delicious, and I believe that wearing these Flor Violeta products will leave people following you every where you go just to get a whiff of you! The perfume ($30) is long-lasting and addictive- so watch out! The handcream ($12) leaves your hands feeling smooth and soft and do not make a greasy mess! Finally, the shower gel ($12) is great for washing yourself in because, just like the handcream, it helps moisturize your skin and leaves it feeling like a baby's bum! Overall, these products satisfied me 100% and I highly recommend you guys go and buy this next month when the collection is available!
Tip: Right after drying yourself off from using your shower gel in the tub, apply the body lotion for maximum moisturization!

Avon's new cologne for men, Untouchable
Top notes kick off with a rush of water, wet greens and sizzling black pepper, followed by refreshing grapefruit. The scent unfolds with notes of lavender and violet leaves adding a clean masculine signature. The finish is earthy moss, Haitian Vetiver and worn leather.

First off, the bottle looks pretty spiffy, right? It definitely has an edgy vibe to its appearance, and that description is pretty...well, descriptive, so I assumed that this cologne would have an edgy and different scent to it. And it does, that's for sure. To be completely honest, when I sniffed straight from the nozzle of the bottle, it smelled amazzingggg! I thought "I wouldn't mind if my boyfriend wore this around me!" I then sprayed it to get another sniff, but when I did it seemed to have a different scent. I don't understand how that could have been, but after I sprayed it I realized that it didn't smell as good as I thought it did. There are way worse colognes that I have smelled before, but this one disappointed me a little. But if you're still interested in it, go ahead and buy it! Maybe it will be a different opinion when it comes from a guy's perspective rather than a girl's. This cologne will be available in June for $25!
  Breast Cancer Crusade Tennis Bracelet
Silvertone with pink crystals and pink enamel-look ribbon motif. 18cm L with 3cm extender. 100% of the net proceeds from the Breast Cancer Crusade Tennis Bracelet will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.

Ever since my dad's diagnosis of lung cancer back in August, I have really been a sucker for anything that has to do with helping any type of cancer. So when Avon sent me this bracelet and I read about their Breast Cancer Crusade, I was head-over-heels for this bracelet! It is the perfect fit and looks great with anything you wear! Not only is it cute, but it's only $5, and as said above in the description, all net proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Crusade. By purchasing this bracelet, you are helping this wonderful organization and all of those who are affected by this nasty disease. Definitely my favourite product of the bunch! It will be available next month for $5.

Just before I wrap up this post, I just wanted to make a small memoir for my amazing father, whom we unfortunately lost on Sunday.

May 3, 1963- March 10, 2013
You were the greatest father anyone could have asked for. I will never let go of all the memories we made when I was a little girl. I will always be your baby girl, no matter how old I get. You fought such a hard and terrible battle with the cancer, and your stubborness is definitely what kept you going those extra three months. You are my hero and always will be. I love you, daddy ♥

NOTW- March 12, 2013

I repaint my nails every week, and I last night I asked myself, "Mandy, what is the point of painting your nails if you aren't going to even mention them on your blog?! It sort of ruins the idea of having a beauty blog, but I don't know I'm just saying"....

So I followed my inner voice and decided to come up with this new segment called....

NOTW (Nails Of The Week)..... Creative, right? I know.

Every Tuesday I will be updating my NOTW, and the picture will be posted on the right-hand side of my blog so you can just click it and check out my nails! Eeeep, isn't this exciting? I think it is!

For this week's nails, I decided to go very simple with one colour. Not multi-coloured, not a fancy-shmancy design, just simple mint coloured nails.

Guess how many coats this is.... three? two?

One. This is one coat. One flippin' coat of nail polish.

I was flabbergasted when I first put on this nail polish! It's the new line of nail polishes from Covergirl. It has a built in top coat so you don't need to go that extra step with applying a top/clear coat! This fast-drying, long-lasting, opaque nail polish has won its way to my heart.... and nail polish collection. The shade that I am wearing right now is Mint Mojito, which by the way, is one of my favourite colours ever!!

I highly recommend you guys go out and buy some (or all) of these polishes, because they will not let you down!

Let me know what you guys think of the line if you have already tried it!

xx Mandy

Avon Reviews #1

Hello, lovelies! I am finally on my March Break, which means I can catch up on some hardcore blogging! Last week, I received my first package from Avon with products that I will be reviewing!
What could ever be in this mystery box........?
Goodies! Looks like I got a mini light holder, a fake potted plant, some cute strawberry décor, and a bottle of bugspray! Talk about a great summer package!
Here I have the Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus Icaridin spray, which is now available for the price of $14!

Product Description:
  • Strong and dependable protection
  • Time- release technology
  • Creates an invisible barrier of protection to repel mosquitos and deer ticks
  • Repels mosquitos for up to 5 hours and deer ticks for up to 7 hours
  • DEET-free
  • Easy to apply
  • fast drying
  • Gentle Breeze scent
  • Contains vitamin E and aloe
Unfortunately, there are no bugs right now because it is still winter. But what I can tell you is that this bug spray smells amaaaaazing! A few years ago I went camping and had to douse myself in bug spray every 2 hours or so, and eventually I just got so sick of the smell that even to this day when I smell it I want to puke. Blehh. This spray has sort of a coconuty, almost peachy smell to it. When you wear it it honestly just smells like you're wearing perfume. It also does dry fast, just as the description says.

Later when the bugs do buzz out and I have the chance to test out this spray, I will defininitely write a full review on it!

xx Mandy
